Over 70 guests gathered on September 3 in the PostFinance Arena - the most frequented ice hockey stadium in Europe.
PostFinance has great market success for many years due to constantly upgrading its strategy. Jürg Bucher, Head of PostFinance, gave a warm welcome to the guets before giving an overview about the strategy of PostFinance.
After Jürg Bucher's welcome speech, Prof. Dr. Filip Caeldries took over. In his presentation, he critically reflected on the difficulties of strategic change. All companies suffer from strategic inertia, therefore it needs to be understood at different levels of analysis.
Three levels were identified:
- collective inertia
- organizational inertia
- individual inertia
During his talk, Prof. Dr. Filip Caeldries gave following recomendations on how to overcome strategic inertia in terms of the three identified levels:
1) Overcoming collective inertia; inviting new voices into the strategy conversation.
2) Overcoming organizational inertia; developing structured solutions to exploration.
3) Overcoming individual inertia; remedying individual "mind blocks" (e.g. devil's advocate)
