The Getting-started Courses

To prepare for the program, participants are offered optional preparatory courses in text production, mathematics, statistics, accounting, and excel.

The art of communication I

This course helps you understand the typical problems encountered in text production. Using a scientific and practical approach, you learn how to perform the crucial tasks of writing and speaking in management settings. The goal is to enable you to communicate with less effort and more impact.

Quantitative methods for managers I (mathematics)

The objective of this introductory course is to equip you with a basic mathematical tool box that you can apply in your MBA program. You will solve linear and quadratic equations, deal with linear and quadratic functions, and rediscover integer exponents, fractional exponents, roots, logarithms, and differential calculus.

Quantitative methods for managers II (statistics)

This course offers a short review of the most fundamental and elementary concepts in statistics. It is designed for students wanting to refresh their knowledge as well as those who lack a statistical background.

Accounting

This course covers the basics of financial accounting. It is mainly concerned with the method and rules of double-entry accounting. At the end of the course you should be able to book and set up a balance sheet and income statement. Further you will have a basic understanding of the different positions therein.

Excel

This course introduces Excel. It is divided into two parts. Part I covers some basic functions of Excel as well as the application of formulas and the formatting of data; Part II focuses mainly on data analysis and management.
